They say Bavaria is the Disneyland of Germany and it's easy to see why. Dirndls and Lederhosen, the Bavarian costume, are fully back in fashion. It's not an Oktoberfest thing; it's a popular outfit seen on Sbahns and Strasses everyday. Beer festivals -- large ones-- pop up very weekend from April onwards. Everyone has their favorite. Kara Solomindes' is "The Berg" in Erlangen. We joined her and the Adi CSR crew at Birkner's Keller. Start time: 11am (don't judge us -- that's the German norm). A 30 degrees scorcher we were glad this festival took place in a forested hillside of Erlangen. Think Greece's graduation fair meets German beer nomes in the forest.
